Richard Slocum of Strattenville waived his preliminary hearing last Tuesday on charges he fired multiple rounds in his home.
Reports say in May police responded to a welfare check on Spruce Street, and found Slocum, who smelled of alcohol and admitted to drinking a 12 pack or more of beer. He said that he and a woman got into an argument, and he said he had fired his .22 in her direction. Slocum later said that two men he thought were sent by the woman came and fired two shots towards him. Police found that to be false and found multiple rounds had been fired inside the home.
Police secured the firearms and Slocum was taken to Clarion Hospital for a mental and physical evaluation. He’s currently free on bail awaiting his trial date.
