Nearly $20,000 have been awarded to four rural fire companies in the 66th Legislative District in Jefferson and Indiana Counties.
Representative Chris Dush tells us that the Oliver Twp Volunteers will receive nearly $4,000; the Plumville VFD will get just a little more than $2,500; the Marion Center volunteers are earmarked almost $3,000 and the Glen Campbell VFD will get $8,000.
Dush says the “vital” funds are to be used for training and equipment purchases directly related to fighting brush and forest fires. The monies are appropriated thru DCNR and paid through federal grants from the US Department of Agriculture Forest Service.
