A Clarion man is facing strangulation and assault charges following a domestic incident Friday night along Route 66 in Farmington Township, Clarion County.
Marienville State Police say a St. Petersburg woman came to their station around 11:03 p.m. and reported that she was assaulted by her boyfriend – a 31-year-old Clarion man – while they were stopped along State Route 66, close to the Clarion/Forest County Line.
The victim told troopers that she and the boyfriend got into verbal argument, it turned physical when the man grabbed her by the throat with both hands and punched her in the right side of her face. According to police, the unidentified man then pushed her onto the ground causing minor abrasions and scrapes.
Two witnesses driving by, observed the victim on the ground … The witnesses stopped and were able to transport the victim to Marienville State Police station to report the assault.
The Clarion man was detained at his residence on Saturday (October 27), and lodged in the Clarion County Jail. The name of the suspect was yet not released.
He’s charged with strangulation – a Felony 1 – and simple assault and harassment.
Summary charges were filed in Shippenville Magisterial District Court .
