State Auditor General Eugene DePasquale has released $55.1 million dollars to help volunteer firefighters in an effort to save lives and protect communities.
The 2018 allocation will benefit 2,518 municipalities across the state. Funding will be earmarked for associations providing fire services to their communities such as training and new equipment.
Jefferson County will receive almost $195,000.
Clarion will get nearly $170,000.
Indiana, more than $391,000.
Armstrong, more than $300,000.
Clearfield, $353,000
The volunteer firefighters’ relief association funding comes from a two percent state tax on fire insurance premiums purchased by Pennsylvania residents from out-of-state casualty insurance companies.
