Preliminary hearing waived for a man who is accused of DUI and child endangerment after a crash that occurred back in October.
Court documents say, this past Thursday, twenty three year old Alexander John Engle, of Petrolia, Jefferson County, waived several charges against him. The court documents show some of the charges include: DUI, endangering the welfare of children, reckless driving and driving without a license. The charges have been transferred to the Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas. Engle remains free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.
According to a criminal complaint, on October 8, the Reynoldsville Borough Police Department, was called to a vehicle accident on West Main Street in Reynoldsville Borough.
When Police arrived at the scene they reported a car resting on its driver’s side with the three occupants of the vehicle were outside sitting on the side of the hill. Authorities say, Engle did not have a drivers license, was in possession of drug paraphernalia and had admitted to smoking Marijuana earlier that day. The eighteen year old passengers were taken to Emergency care. Engle consented to a legal blood draw at Penn Highlands DuBois. A lab report later showed a positive reading for the presence of marijuana.
