A woman from Gipsy was killed in a car crash in Cambria County on New Year’s Day.
Published reports say 40-year-old Veronica Martel was driving on Carroll Road around 7:00 am yesterday when she failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The SUV veered off the side of the road and hit an embankment, causing the vehicle to roll over and throw Martel from the car.
Police say that Martel was not wearing her seat belt and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death was blunt force trauma to the
chest, and the death was ruled accidental.
