Brookville Borough Police Department have started to investigate a case of human trafficking in Brookville and the surrounding area.
According to authorities, on Monday an undercover sex trafficking sting in Brookville Borough led to the arrest of 50 year old Edwin Botwright from Brockway, who was looking to pay for sex with a minor. Brookville Borough Police said Botwright agreed to pay $50 to have 15 minutes with a 15 year old girl. Investigators say the man arrived at the agreed meeting spot and he was taken into custody.
According to court documents, yesterday in Magisterial District Judge Mizerock’s office, Brookville Borough Police Department filed seven charges against Botwright, including trafficking minors, unlawful contact with minor, criminal solicitation and four other charges. Published reports say the charges stem from an investigation into human trafficking in and around Brookville Borough, Jefferson County.
Unable to post $50,000.00, Botwright was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled on February 5 with Magisterial District Judge Bazylak presiding.
