
The Sykesville Borough Council Met on Monday night and discussed the problems caused by the recent polar vortex that brought extreme cold temperatures to the area.
According to the Punxsutawney Spirit, some residents in Sykesville have been having problems with their water meters exploding during the extreme cold weather conditions. The published report says they are working to replace the plastic meters with new ones that will be more resistant to the extreme weather, and that residents should keep their basements heated to prevent the current ones from exploding.
he Punxsutawney Spirit also reports the council approved sending out a reminder to locals that they are responsible for replacement of the damaged ones, which cost $125.
