State Representative Jim Struzzi has joined 62 other Republican state house members to urge Governor Wolf to change his crowd size limitations to allow parents to watch their children participate in High School Sports.
Last week, the PIAA announced that while fall sports would move on, they would do so without spectators due to the pandemic. The PIAA has said that their decision on not allowing spectators was ultimately up to the Wolf administration. State Representative Kerry Benninghoff wrote the letter to Governor Tom Wolf, saying that without the parents and community members watching the game, something of the game experience is lost, and they feel that parents sitting in the stands or standing around tracks and fields, with modifications in place, are no more prone to Coronavirus than them going to a local “mega retailer” to shop.
The letter also states that having parents at the stadium makes sense as parents might be needed should they need to give consent to provide treatment or otherwise interact with their child during the sporting event.
A separate letter on this issue is being sent to the PIAA. You can read the letter to Governor Wolf by clicking this link.
