A fatal vehicle crash happened on I-80 East Sunday in the Borough of Brookville in Jefferson County.
Pennsylvania State Police in DuBois say just before one in the afternoon, a box truck was crossing the North Fork Bridge when the driver lost control and hit the barrier on the right side near mile marker 97. After the impact, the truck crossed both lanes and struck the left side. The truck topped the barrier and fell to the bottom of the bridge, where both occupants were ejected. When the box truck hit the ground, it caught fire.
The passenger, who was from Brooklyn NY, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson County Coroners Office. The passenger’s name was redacted from the report. The driver, whose name was also not released, had minor injuries.
