Indiana County President Judge William Martin will conduct a pretrial conference today for 26-year-old Matthew Bartlebaugh, the Glenn Campbell man charged with killing his father early on New Year’s Day.
Bartlebaugh is accused of shooting to death 43-year-old Jerald Bartlebaugh as Jerald slept at the family home at Graham and Morris streets. Matthew, who has a long history of mental illness, called 911 to report that he had killed his father and after he was taken into custody following a police standoff of about seven hours, he confessed again. The standoff ended when police lobbed flashbang grenades into the home and Bartlebaugh surrendered.
Jerald Bartlebaugh’s girlfriend, Angela Bruce, was also sleeping in the bed, but was unharmed.
There is a motions hearing as well for 43-year-old Valerie Woods of Commodore, who is charged with possession with intent to deliver, and possession of a controlled substance, of a small amount of marijuana, and of drug paraphernalia. Her trial is also scheduled for September 28th.
And Judge Martin will conduct a non-jury trial for 22-year-old Jared Schafkopf of Huntingdon Valley, Montgomery Township, who is charged with intercepting communications and disorderly conduct.
