The Punxsutawney Borough Council recently approved a motion to apply to the Multimodal Transportation Fund to widen the turn at Union and Front Streets.
According to The Punxsutawney Spirit, Borough Manager Toby Santik said the turn is a safety hazard for drivers and the cost of the project is close to $400K, but with having a 30 percent match the Borough is committed to around $119K toward the cost.
The published report says the Council also unanimously passed a resolution to apply for grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
