Three Indiana County school districts report Covid-19 news today, including a move by the Marion Center School District to all-remote learning. United and Penns Manor also report new positive cases in their districts.
At Marion Center, the district says that due to the number of positive cases in the community and recent positive cases at the high school, grades 7 through 12 will become fully-remote starting tomorrow. Today, Group A students will attend school to collect belongings and gather materials for online learning while Group B will be remote learning, as scheduled. The district has provided a schedule to students extending into December and the technology team will work through connectivity issues with individual families. The district leaves the remote learning order open-ended, with no indication of how long it will last.
The United School District says it is cooperating with the state Department of Health after a positive case of coronavirus infection was confirmed yesterday in a student at the high school.
The school district reports that contact tracing is continuing their contact tracing of students who may have been in contact with the infected student. There will be no new restrictions on in-school activities at this time, and the Department of Health has advised the district to remain vigilant in its Covid-19 mitigation measures.
At Penns Manor, the district has been notified by both a parent and the department of Health that a student at the high school has tested positive for the virus. They’ve been able to ascertain that no other individual has been in contact with the infected student, who has not been in school since November 9th. No restrictions have been announced for the district’s educational model.
