A Madera woman is being charged with homicide by vehicle and involuntary manslaughter in relation to a crash that killed a two-year-old girl while the driver was allegedly under the influence.
According to GANT News, the charges stem from a one-vehicle crash that occurred on Sept. 21 on Banion Road in Bigler Township when the woman drove off the roadway and down an embankment where the vehicle overturned.
State police found the woman was transported to UPMC Altoona and the toddler passenger was pronounced dead on the scene.
After multiple interviews with the driver, state police obtained hospital records showing she tested positive for drugs at the time of the incident.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 3.
