A Strattanville woman is facing multiple charges following an investigation into the theft of more than $70,000 from the Strattanville Volunteer Fire Department where she served as treasurer since 2015.
According to ExploreJeffersonPa.com, the investigation started after a Strattanville Volunteer Fire Department officer told police that he was informed of suspicious activity from the department’s bank.
The officer also informed police that after receiving notification of the unusual activity, he began to review a few of the accounts and discovered other instances of low and missing funds.
The former treasurer is facing seven counts of forgery unauthorized act in writing, theft by deception-false impression both felonies, among other related charges.
A preliminary hearing is set to resume Feb. 16.
