The Brookville Area School District has temporarily shut down the junior and senior high school today after the school hit a threshold for positive COVID-19 tests.
According to the Punxsy Spirit, Hickory Grove Elementary School was also forced to shut down on Friday due to positive tests, but the school is due to open today after the holiday weekend.
A new state threshold mandates schools to temporarily shut down after a certain number of positive COVID-19 cases and for small schools like Brookville’s three elementary schools, two positive cases causes a shut-down for cleaning and contact tracing.
Mid-size schools like the high school have a threshold of four cases.
