
All three Punxsutawney Fire Departments were called to Aldi’s Supermarket in the Punxsy Plaza to a fire alarm indicating a sprinkler system malfunction Thursday morning.
According to the Punxsutawney Fire Department’s Facebook Page, Lindsey, Central, and Elk Run Fire Company were dispatched to the scene where the sprinkler malfunction caused flooding in various parts of the store. Firefighters entered the store as employees were trying to deal with the water that flooding the rear of the store and storage areas. The PA American Water Company was called to the scene and were able to shut the water off. Punxsutawney fire fighters and store employees were able to push most of the water out of the store.
Store management said the store will be closed until further notice
Jefferson County EMS assisted at the scene.

A DuBois man was seriously injured in a crash on State Route 119 on Sunday Feb. 7th.
Police say, the one-vehicle crash occurred on 119 just south of Johnston Road in East Mahoning Township of Indiana County when 60-year-old Gary Gordon lost control of the vehicle, traveled off the roadway, and struck a guard rail.
Gordon was wearing a seatbelt but suffered suspected serious injuries and was transported to Indiana Regional Medical Center by Citizen’s Ambulance.
The vehicle sustained disabling damage and Gordon was cited for a traffic violation.
