State Police in Indiana report that a phone scam is making its way through the area.
Troopers say a 75-year-old woman reported that she received a suspicious phone call on Wednesday saying she would receive free face masks. The woman said the caller asked for her Medicaid ID number and other personal info. State police say that any financial damage to the woman is currently unknown and she was told to notify Medicaid.
Troopers urge citizens to review common scams with family members and to report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
Info on how to protect yourself and family members from common forms of Medicaid scams can be found on the Unites States Federal Trade Commission website.
