Jefferson County’s Young Township supervisors discussed workplace safety mandates regarding COVID-19 that OSHA is proposing at Wednesday’s meeting.
According to the Punxsy Spirit, Supervisors chair, Mike Defelice said employers are required to implement a policy as to providing a safe working environment regarding COVID-19.
Defelice said the insurance company also suggested a policy to avoid an potential lawsuits. He said Young Township has followed the safety guidelines required by the PA DOH and the CDC and the township has had no employees infected with the virus and has remained open and functional during the crisis.
Defelice noted that according to the recent guidelines those who are fully vaccinated no longer have to quarantine if exposed to the virus and can meet with anyone else who is vaccinated without masks or socially distancing. But, those not vaccinated are at risk and masks should be worn around them to prevent them from being exposed.
