
State Police in Punxsutawney are investigating a report of a scam.
Troopers say a 40-year-old Punxsutawney woman reported she was scammed out of $3,000 at a location along Maple St in McCalmont Township of Jefferson County on Sunday.
Police say the woman believed she was purchasing a dog from Texas. The unknown person she was communicating with stopped responding after she sent the money.

Police say an 18-year-old Brockway man was arrested following a suspected DUI hit-and-run crash that occurred in Washington Township of Jefferson County last week.
State Police in DuBois say the crash occurred on Rockdale Road, north of Airport Road, on March 14. Police say the teenager was traveling along Rockdale Road, when the vehicle went off the side of the roadway, for unknown reasons, and struck two mailboxes, then a tree. Police say the 18-year-old attempted to flee the scene in the vehicle, then struck three more mailboxes and a shrub before getting back on the road. The vehicle eventually went into a ditch along Beechtree Road where it came to a final rest.
Troopers say the driver and his 19-year-old Brockway passenger were not injured. The 18-year-old driver was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.

State Police in DuBois are investigating the theft of nine firearms from a Clearfield County residence that occurred earlier this month.
Troopers say an unknown person stole nine guns from a Penfield man’s home in Huston Township along Paul Short Road sometime between 8 am and 1 pm on March 16. Police say the guns were in an open wooden gun case in a bedroom closet. Authorities say the combined value of the nine guns is more than $4,500.
