
Police say a Brookville man has been arrested for forging a stolen check and attempting to cash it at a local bank.
Brookville Borough Police say the suspect, a 30-year-old Brookville man allegedly received a personal check that was stolen from DuBois, signed it and attempted to cash it at a bank in Brookville on January 1.
Police say the suspect is currently lodged in Jefferson County Jail on a PFA order violation with pending charges of forgery and receiving stolen property. Police did not release the suspect’s name.

Two people are facing multiple charges related to drugs and paraphernalia found in a hotel room in Brookville.
According to ExploreJeffersonPA.com, Brookville Borough Police filed criminal charges against 44-year-old Tanya Witherite of Erie and 37-year-old Michael D. Myers, who is listed as transient. The charges stem from an incident that began February 21 when Witherite and Myers were reportedly involved in a pursuit with state police. They were caught and taken to the hospital for treatment following the crash that ended the pursuit. Police then learned the two were staying a motel along Allegheny Boulevard and initiated an investigation after a report of drug activity. Police reportedly found suspected meth and paraphernalia.
Witherite and Myers are facing multiple drug and related charges.
Preliminary hearings are set for May 13.
