Following a three-day search, the body of a missing Punxsutawney man was discovered in Gilpin Township, Armstrong County last night.
38-year-old Nathan Lauer was found dead shortly after 7 p.m. near the location of where he went missing Saturday, after he was last seen swimming in the river. Lauer’s friend, Altman, said he last saw Lauer swimming in the river at about 7:30 a.m.
Altman said they, along with another friend, were drinking that night at a campsite and Altman had gone to sleep, awakening to find both Lauer and the other friend gone. Police were able to contact the other friend, known as Means, but couldn’t get ahold of Lauer.
State police conducted an initial search that lasted six hours on Sunday, but no signs of Lauer turned up.
