Brookville Borough Police officers say drugs and a stolen firearm were seized following a traffic stop on Main Street in Brookville on May 24.
Police say a truck, driven by a un-named 33-year-old DuBois man, was stopped for an equipment violation which led to a search of the vehicle. Officers say a drug detecting canine indicated that a locked tool box in the truck may have contained drugs and a search warrant was issued. During the search, police reportedly seized 11 packages of suspected marijuana, 51 packages of candies containing controlled substances, various drug trafficking equipment, over $1,000 in what police call drug trafficking funds, counterfeit $100 bills, and a stolen firearm. Police say the man was arrested and lodged in SCI Smithfield.
Brookville PD is urging parents and members of the public to be aware of drugs disguised as candy. Police say common lookalike candy containing drugs may include, but aren’t limited to gummy bears, worms, rings, bit sized candy bars, and lip balms.
Brookville Borough Police also filed drug charges against a 34-year-old Florida woman following a traffic stop on May 24. Officers say the woman reportedly told police she was in possession of a controlled substance while not being licensed to do so.
No further details regarding this incident have been released.
