Punxsutawney Borough Police recently filed charges against a Brookville man who allegedly lied to officers about his identify during a traffic stop.
ExploreJeffersonPA.com reports that police initiated a the stop on June 1 for an expired plate. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as 48-year-old Richard Allen Thacker, initially said his license was suspended and gave the police a name and birth date that showed no records after two searches. The man claimed he was not lying and was then transported to the state police station for a live scan fingerprint where he was positively identified as Richard Thacker – which was not the name he reportedly gave police. Thacker reportedly said he lied because he believed there were multiple warrants for his arrest – police say a search reportedly found that Thacker was wanted on multiple warrants out of Indiana County.
He was then transported to Jefferson County Jail.
