Jefferson County Commissioner Jack Matson announced his resignation during this week’s commissioners’ meeting.
Matson said he resigned because he plans to move out of the county. His resignation is effective July 31. Matson was serving his second term as commissioner after being elected in 2015 and again in 2019.
The county will appoint someone to complete his term, which is set to end in 2024.
