The governing body for high school athletics in Pennsylvania has issued its ruling on coronavirus vaccines.
Less than a month into the new the high school football season, the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association has issued a recommendation that all student-athletes, coaches, athletic personnel and officials receive a coronavirus vaccination. That announcement comes as the result of guidelines issued by the PIAA’s Sports Medicine Advisory Committee.
Officials point out it’s only a recommendation and not a mandate. Thus far, the only mandate applies to PIAA officials who want to take part in inter-district competitions such as playoffs.
