More Pennsylvania counties have agreed to be a part of a historic settlement with opioid manufacturers and distributors, including Jefferson, Clearfield, Indiana, and Clarion.
Attorney General Josh Shapiro says 50 PA counties, including five of the six largest, have agreed to join the settlement in which Pennsylvania is expected to receive more than one billion dollars, including up to $232 million in 2022. Noting that the state lost more than 5,100 lives to drug overdoses last year, Shapiro says the settlement will provide a boost to programs to help people struggling with substance abuse to find treatment.
Shapiro says the 17 counties which have yet to sign on have until next month to do so.
