A Belsano man who works as a State Police Liquor Control Enforcement Officer assigned to the Punxsutawney District Office now faces charges of sexually assaulting two girls in Cambria County.
40-year-old Scott Berdine was arrested on Thursday and charged with child rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, indecent assault of a person under the age of 13 and corruption of minors for incidents that date from January of 2017 to December of 2018 against one victim and similar charges for incidents with a second victim between January of 2019 and July of 2021. All of these incidents allegedly happened in Cambria County.
Berdine has worked as a Liquor Control Enforcement Officer since September of 2008 out of the state police barracks in Punxsutawney and was suspended without pay pending the resolution of the criminal charges. Berdine’s attorney, Dan Kiss, said that his client has denied the charges, saying that “In our opinion, it’s impossible for this to have happened,”
He is free after paying $15,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for March 8th.
