There never seems to be a shortage of phone scams, and here’s another one making its way across Pennsylvania.
The caller seeks to record the victim’s voice saying the word “yes” and then using the recording to make online purchases. Officials in several counties report that people have been receiving calls and the voice asking, “Can you hear me now?” There could be other wording before the question.
Anyone receiving the call is advised to never respond to questions from anyone on the phone unless you know who you are talking to. The scam calls in this case uses blocked or unfamiliar numbers, but could also be using ghost numbers that appear legitimate.
