CORRECTION: The borough plans to turn the park over to the firemen once approval is received from the state
ORIGINAL STORY:
Leasing the borough park was on the agenda at last night’s Reynoldsville Borough Council meeting.
Sam Bundy has the story. Borough Solicitor Joe Ryan told council that, based on his discussions with the state, he believed that the Reynoldsville Volunteer Fire Department could lease the recreational park, which includes a football field, playground, and other amenities. It was believed that since the park had received state funding, it couldn’t be leased, but Ryan said that’s not the case and he provided three options that could be pursued. Council approved a motion for Ryan to continue the leasing process. Fire Chief Darren Scolese said this is something the volunteers have been wanting to do for a long time.
The fire hall is located across Gordon Street from the park and the department uses it for annual events.
