Officials with PennDOT recently awarded IUP with grant funds aimed towards improving traffic safety.
According to a news release, IUP’s Institute for Rural Health and Safety recently received $104,000 in federal funding for the Indiana County Highway Safety Project. The project was reinstated at IUP earlier this year following a five-year hiatus, and thanks to an agreement with commissioners from Indiana, Clarion, Armstrong, Butler and Jefferson counties, the funding will go towards promoting safe driving and seatbelt use in the region.
It’s also designed to offer information and education to serve statistically identified traffic safety needs for groups in those communities.
