A Punxsutawney man, 23-year-old, Matthew Garrett Brotherton, was sentenced to 8-20 years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated assault and burglary related to a shooting incident on Woodland Avenue last year.
Today’s Punxsutawney Spirit reports, initially charged with attempted homicide, he shot two people after breaking into a residence. Brotherton will serve
consecutive sentences of 6-12 years for assault and 2-8 years for burglary, including various fines and restitution. The incident ended with Brotherton being shot by the victim and found later at a local hospital.
