The Pennsylvania Department of State has declared a statewide recount in the US Senate race between Democrat Senator Bob Casey and Republican Challenger Dave McCormick.
The recount is triggered when the margin of victory is half a percentage point or less. As of yesterday, McCormick has 48.93% of the vote, while Casey has 48.50%. County election officials across the state reported there are 60,366 uncounted provisional ballots and 20,155 uncounted mail-in and absentee ballots. Once counties finish counting the ballots, they must begin the recount no later than next Wednesday, November 20th.
The recount must be completed by noon on November 26th and the results must be reported to the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s office by noon on the 27th.
