Luigi Mangione, accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, appeared in court Tuesday for an extradition hearing.
He is fighting extradition to New York and remains jailed in Pennsylvania without bail. According to the AP Prosecutors have 30 days to file a governor’s warrant to expedite the process, while Mangione’s defense has 14 days to challenge it. Blair County DA Pete Weeks confirmed Pennsylvania charges against Mangione will proceed after the New York case.
Alleged threats against arresting officers are under investigation. Mangione’s attorney, Thomas Dickey, stated there’s no evidence implicating his client and emphasized his presumption of innocence.
