Edward Leroy Wonderling, Jr., 60, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital, following a ten year battle with cancer.
He was born in Altoona on May 07, 1964, a son of the late Edward Leroy Wonderling, Sr. and Edna B. (Rickard) Wonderling.
Ed’s passion in life was driving the bus, he drove for many different companies over the years. In the beginning, he started working with Kip Snyder at Punxsy Bus Company. He went on to work for many other bus companies such as ATA, Fullington, Tri-County Transportation, Krise Transportation. He loved his job and all the people he met over the years.
Ed lived by the philosophy of “in order to get where you are going, you have to work hard” and work hard he did and never complained. He was a member of the Eagles and the American Legion.
He also felt that you had to have some fun in life also, so when he was not working, he enjoyed shooting pool, drinking a Budweiser and smoking a Marlboro. He loved Rock and Roll music and attended many concerts with his companion Patty. Every year, he looked forward to the Dam Show, a popular summer camping and live music weekend at the ruins of the Austin Dam, which was attended by many people who enjoyed music, camping and people as much as Ed did.
In addition to Patricia Hadfield, his companion of twenty-six years, he is survived by two children, Tina Wonderling and Edward Leroy Wonderling, III, Patty’s children, Richard and Gregory Hadfield; four grandchildren, Kenny Anderson, Tyesha Lowmaster, Jacob and Rachel Wonderling; two brothers, Fred (Lisa) Wonderling of Reynoldsville and Bill Rickard of Blandburg; one sister, Elna (Bob) Corso of Rossiter.
Preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Rachel Wonderling and John Hadfield.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation. Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
