The Punxsutawney Spirit reports, a fast-moving fire tore through a single-family home on Hemlock Lake Road in Indiana County, on Friday morning, leaving the structure gutted and a gaping hole in the center of the roof.
The fire broke out around 9:30 a.m., according to local authorities. Glen Campbell Volunteer Fire Company Chief Jody Pearce told The Spirit that flames had already breached the roof by the time firefighters arrived. The home’s lone occupant managed to escape just as heavy smoke and fire poured from the structure.
Amid the chaos, firefighters managed to rescue several cats that had been inside the home, ensuring that all residents—human and feline—made it out safely.
