At last night’s meeting, the Penns Manor School Board heard about the district’s plan to allow parents and students to choose how they attend.
The plan will allow for in-person attendance, attendance using Google Classroom and the district’s Cyber Academy. Every student, regardless of educational option, will receive a Chromebook for the season, and the students will be able to change from one education option to the other. Superintendent Daren Johnston said that the district has to be flexible for two reasons.
Johnston advised everyone not to go to social media if they want to change to another education option, but instead, talk with an administrator to discuss it.
The first day of school will be August 31st. Students who are attending classes in-person are to go that day and will receive their Chromebooks. Those taking part in Google Classrooms will stay home that day, and the cyber school students can start accessing their classes. On the 1st, the in-person students will stay home while the Google Classroom students pick up their Chromebooks and meet with teachers.
In other business, the district approved a contract with All America Athletics in the amount of $3,608 to refinish the elementary school gym, and an agreement with K&K electrical to complete installation of eight wireless access points on the school district grounds at a cost of $1800.
