More details have emerged on that crash on Route 36/North Main Street Monday afternoon.
Punxsutawney State Police say 47-yr-old Stacie L Carr of Falls Creek was seriously injured when she attempted to turn off of Route 36 into the parking lot of the Professional Plaza in Young Township. She failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic – a drilling rig truck – just before 4 pm.
Carr was seriously injured, cut out of her car by Punxsutawney fire and rescue crews, transported to Punxsutawney Area Hospital and then flown by medical helicopter to AGH in Pittsburgh.
Troopers say despite the seriousness of the injuries, Carr is expected to survive. They also indicate she was not wearing seat belt restraints.
The rig driver, 53-yr-old Robert Beer of Mayport, was not hurt. The Mack rig is owned by Howard Drilling Company of Mount Jewett. The Carr vehicle was severely damaged and both vehicles had to be towed from the scene …
Authorities say the Forensic Services, CARS accident reconstruction and Motor Carrier Safety units closed the roadway for about 4 hours during the investigation of the crash.
