Assault charges have been filed against a Cranberry man stemming from a dispute in Polk Township, Jefferson County.
According to court documents, State Police from DuBois filed criminal charges against 40-year-old Brian Todd Hangerman. He is accused of choking and striking a man in the early morning hours of October 4th.
According to the criminal complaint, Troopers were sent to an assault in progress on Well Road in Polk Township around 1:20 a.m.
When they got there Troopers talked with a man who said he and Hangerman were arguing after Hangerman yelled at a woman and called her names. The man said he confronted Hangerman and there was a scuffle, which ended up with Hangerman choking the man. Troopers noted physical signs of the fight and Hangerman was arraigned later that day in Magisterial Court, facing three counts: Simple assault, strangulation, and harassment.
Hangerman remains free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30, in front of Judge Inzana.
