A fire Friday evening destroyed a home in Ernest Borough.
Indiana County 911 reported that Creekside, Indiana, and Clymer fire departments were initially called out to a house fire on Store Hill Road in Ernest just before 8 pm Friday night.
Plumville Fire Department was also called in to assist.
Creekside Fire Chief Cody Hitchings said the 100 year old two-story home was fully involved when they arrived and they had to use an aerial truck to drop water from above, a precaution as they deemed it too dangerous to enter the structure. The attic and second floor did wind up collapsing onto the first floor.
Hitchings said they did have a problem related to inadequate hydrant pressure. Firefighters had to hook up an engine relay pump to provide enough water pressure to fight the blaze.
The sole resident was not home at the time, the name was not released and they are being assisted by family members and the American Red Cross. No injuries were reported.
The incident was turned over to the fire marshal for investigation.
