Punxsutawney Area Hospital received doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine Thursday, Dec. 24.
According to the Punxsutawney Spirit, hospital employees were given the opportunity to receive the vaccine just before Christmas.
The hospitals preparation for vaccine distribution has been in the making. The CDC has established a plan that is being followed locally and across the nation.
PAH is planning to vaccinate those who are classified under Phase 1a of the CDC plan in the coming weeks, including EMS workers, law enforcement, and other health care workers.
The vaccine team is preparing for second doses to be administered Jan. 18-20.
