The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced that the nationwide test of Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) and the Emergency Alert System (EAS) will take place on Wednesday, October 3, 2018.
The WEA test will originate at 2:18 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on cell phones. Be aware that the WEA test will be loud and if you are in a place where silence or quiet is necessary, you should turn your phone volume down prior to the test.
All radio stations will then air the EAS test at 2:20. This will go on-air regardless of what the station is playing or saying. It will interrupt the programming.
