Jacob Martinez of Butler was arrested Thursday night in Clarion Borough following a series of events.
Reports say police responded to a two-vehicle crash on 8th Avenue and found that the driver of one vehicle took off on foot. While investigating the crash, officers were sent to a reported stabbing on Heidrick Street. Police found two victims, one with a stab wound to the arm. The victims said the man was looking for someone in a nearby apartment and asked if could use a phone. The man made the call, wouldn’t give the phone back, pulled a knife and that’s when the struggle happened. The victims got the man out, and he fled on foot.
While looking into the stabbing, police received a report of a stolen vehicle, which turned out to be the one involved in the 8th Avenue crash. The person suspected of the theft and vehicle crash turned out to be the same as the assault, Jacob Martinez, who was found hiding in a closet of the residence from which the car was stolen.
Martinez was charged Friday in Judge Quinn’s office and is lodged in the Clarion County Jail.
