
Additional details have been released in the investigation into the Strattanville couple discovered at a fatal accident scene just outside of Clarion on Feb. 20th.
According to ExploreJeffersonPA.com, Clarion County Coroner Dan Shingledecker believes the vehicle where the bodies of 78-year-old Samuel Paine and 81-year-old Lucille Paine were found had crashed on Feb. 17th.
Shingledecker said the preliminary cause of death for both individuals is hypothermia.
The couple was found on Feb 20th while police were searching for James Whitman, a Clarion University student who went missing Feb. 19th.
The couple was found near Toby Creek just off Miola Road and McCleary Road in Highland Township. Whitman’s body was then found nearby above the Toby Creek Bridge on Bigley Road.
Authorities say the two incidents are unrelated. Whitman’s death remains under investigation.
