PennDOT has announced the 2021 Liquid Fuels Tax allocations for every municipality in that state, with revenues down about seven percent due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jefferson County’s municipalities will be getting (nearly 3.2 million) $3,194,160.34 compared to the (3.4 million) $3,441,411.59 the county received in 2020.
The money is raised through gas tax revenues for fuel purchased in each county, and the allocation formula factors in each municipality’s populations and the number of miles of locally-owned roads.
Washington Township receives the most funding, with an allocation of (nearly 211,000) $210,991.93. Winslow Township is next with (over 205,000) $205,123.05 and Punxsutawney comes in third highest with (over 181,000) $181,707.25.
PennDOT’s annual distributions assist with municipalities’ highway and bridge-related expenses
such as snow removal and road repaving.
