Jessica Kalkhof talks about the services Community Action has to offer to local individuals and families. Some of the programs she talks about include, the Phone A Friend Volunteer Program, the Weatherization program, Domestic Violence Services, Family Services, Homeless Services, Medical Assistance Transportation, as well as Veteran Support Services.
Jessica noted that Community Action is offering the VITA program to assist individuals with their income tax prep and that they are still offering the GED and secondary prep through their Adult Education Program.
In Clarion County, Community Action offers a food pantry that’s open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30 pm. Jessica said families can come in once a month for a bag of food that will help them out for a day or two. Community Action also assists those who are applying for SNAP benefits.
Jessica noted that Community Action is continuing to participate in the Week of Giving this year. The kickoff for the event is March 15. She said if anyone is interested in donating their online live giving days are March 16, 17, and 18. Jessica said the money that is donated helps Community Action to fill any gaps in programs and helps fund special projects in the community. The Week of Giving Website is bbcfgives.org.
