Residents of West Mahoning Street in Punxsutawney voiced their concerns about the proposed Arby’s Restaurant that would be built in the 500 block of West Mahoning Street last night during the Punxsutawney Borough Council meeting.
The area is currently zoned residential and Pittsburgh developer Milo Ritten is hoping to have council change it to highway commercial.
Some homeowners along West Mahoning Street and Mulberry Alley said that the article in the Punxsy Spirit following the proposal came as a shock to them as the area has always been zoned residential.
Homeowners noted that although they are not opposed to business growth in Punxsutawney, they also cited other possible issues with the restaurant like litter, dumpsters, and traffic in the residential zoned area.
