Child pornography charges have been filed against a police officer and former Reynoldsville resident in Cameron County.
According to ExploreJeffersonPA.com, 56-year-old Volker Kiefer, of Emporium, formerly of Reynoldsville, was charged with multiple felony counts of child pornography and criminal use of communication facility on March 17. Unable to post bail, he was lodged in Cameron County jail.
The charges stem an investigation that began in October of 2020 when the Office of Attorney General’s Child Predator Unit received a cyber tip containing suspected images of child pornography. The IP address was then reportedly traced to a residence in Reynoldsville, where Kiefer had resided during the time the images had been uploaded. Agents conducted a search on March 17 at Kiefer’s new residence in Emporium where he was employed as a police officer. A preview of his electronics reportedly turned up more images of child pornography.
A preliminary hearing is set for March 25.
