The Punxsutawney School Board discussed two versions of the proposed 2021-22 budget at their meeting Thursday, one with a tax increase and one without.
On Tuesday, at the voting meeting the board voted unanimously to display the budget without a tax increase. Without a tax increase, the proposed budget revenues total about $43.3 million and the expenditures total about $46.9 million.
Business Manager Susan Robertson said the state will contribute about 58 percent.
Federal Programs and Curriculum director Rich Britten said the $9 million in COVID-19 relief funding is the next round of the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funding (ESSERS) and has not been released for review yet.
Board President Cindy Depp-Hutchinson said the board is not permitted to use ESSERS funds to balance the budget and a portion of it will be for educational recovery.
The budget remains a work in progress until the vote to adopt it in June. The board will hold another budget workshop following the voting meeting at 5:30 pm on April 20.
