The Punxsutawney School Board awarded the site Contractor bid for the canopy and paving project at a special voting meeting Tuesday.
A representative from HHSDR Architects, Bob Englebaugh presented the bids and board members voted to award the bid to Cottle’s Asphalt. Englebaugh said the district saved about $26,000 through the rebidding process as Cottle’s dropped the amount of its bid in the second round.
In other business, the board voted to change this year’s graduation date to June 2 and approved the purchase of protection software for the district’s computers and servers. A budget workshop followed the voting meeting and members discussed the ESSERS COVID-19 grant funding. The board noted that ESSERS grants one and two have been used to purchase IPads and cover the increase in cyber costs and other programs. The third round of ESSERS funding has not been released yet and the board noted that a significant amount of the grant must be used to specifically address learning loss.
The board discussed preliminary plans for summer programs as well as credit recovery programs.
